Attendance
MPUSD and Monte Vista have high expectations for consistent and committed attendance to school. Whether excused or unexcused, absences add up to a loss of learning time, and can quickly lead to academic and social-emotional challenges. Defined as missing 10 percent of the school year (18 days a year or just 2 - 3 days each month), chronic absenteeism can translate into:
- Third graders unable to master reading
- Sixth graders failing courses
- Ninth graders dropping out of high school
