Attendance

MPUSD and Monte Vista have high expectations for consistent and committed attendance at school. Whether excused or unexcused, absences add up to a loss of learning time, and can quickly lead to academic and social-emotional challenges. Defined as missing 10 percent of the school year (18 days a year or just 2 - 3 days each month), chronic absenteeism can translate into:

  • Third graders unable to master reading
  • Sixth graders failing courses
  • Ninth graders dropping out of high school

Thank you in advance for your commitment to ensure your child(ren) are on time and ready to learn each and every day. This commitment to attending school WILL translate into future success in and outside the classroom.

If your student will be absent, please call the school office: (831) 392-3890

If your child will be out for 3-14 days, please arrange to have an Independent Study Contract completed through the office at least 2 weeks before the beginning of the absence. Click here for more information.
