School Site Council (SSC)

School Site Council (SSC) is made up of elected teachers, staff, administration, and parents. SSC develops, approves, and monitors both the School Plan for Student Achievement (Site Plan) and our School Safety Plan. School Site Handbook

What is English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC)?

The English Learner Advisory Committee, ELAC, promotes a meaningful connection between parent/guardians of English learners (ELs) and school personnel. The main purpose is to create a forum for open, culturally responsive exchanges on topics important to parents and guardians of English learners and recently redesignated English proficient students. A functioning ELAC is required for any school site with 21 or more English Learners.

The ELAC shall be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Advising the principal and staff in the development of a site plan for English learners and submitting the plan to the School Site Council for consideration of inclusion in the School Plan for Student Achievement.
  • Assisting in the development of the schoolwide needs assessment.
  • Ways to make parents aware of the importance of regular school attendance.
  • Each ELAC shall have the opportunity to elect at least one member to the District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC). Districts with 31 or more ELACs may use a system of proportional or regional representation.

In addition, DELAC (District English Learners Advisory Committee) meets several times a year. Representatives from each school's ELAC committee and administration meet to discuss the services the district provides.
